The Second Coming of Christ

<span style="color: blue; font-size: large;"><b>Introduction</b></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">There are three Greek words o reveal this fact: 1) Parousia - personal presence 2)  Apokalupsis - revelation and 3) Epiphaneia - appearing. These words signify that there will be come a time when Christ will return on a public, personal revelation of Himself to the world.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="color: red;">Acts 1:10-11</span> described the ascension as being 1) personal, 2) bodily, 3) visible and 4) with power.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">The Savior's first coming was in humiliation but the Second Advent will be glorious.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">Actually there are three viewpoints respecting His Second Coming:</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">1. Post millennial view: It teaches that the Second Coming will follow rather than precede the millennial age.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">2. The A-millennial view: Supporters do not believe in a literal period of a thousand years but believe that when Christ comes everything ends quickly.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">3. The pre-millennial view: The Lord comes and the then the Millennium follows.</span></div>

<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">Another complication is that the Second Coming is in two stages:</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">1. The rapture which is secret (<span style="color: red;">1 Thesalonians 4:15-17</span>) when the Lord comes for His saints and we meet Him in the air.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">2. The revelation which is public (<span style="color: red;">Revelation 1:7</span>), when the Lord comes with His saints to setup the Millennium, <span style="color: red;">1Thesalonians 3:13</span>.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">An unsolved problem of pre-millennialists is whether the Church will go through the tribulation so there are pre-tribulation and mid-tribulation debates.</span></div>

<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: blue; font-size: large;"><b>I.<span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space: pre;"> </span>Prophecies of Christ’s Second Coming</b></span></div>

<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">His firs coming was prophesied and those prophesies came to pass literally.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">This gives us great confidence that the prophecies of the Second Advent will also be fulfilled literally and not in a figurative or spiritual sense.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">1.<span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space: pre;"> </span>It was foretold by the prophets. <span style="color: red;">Daniel 7:13</span> “I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of Heaven.”</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">2.<span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space: pre;"> </span>It was foretold by Jesus Himself.<span style="color: red;"> Matthew 25:31</span> “When the Son of man shall come in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then shall He sit upon the throne of His glory.”</span></div>

<span style="font-size: large;">3.<span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space: pre;"> </span>It was foretold by Paul. <span style="color: red;">1Thimothy 6:14</span> “Keep this commandments without spot unrebukeable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ.”</span></div>

<span style="font-size: large;">4.<span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space: pre;"> </span>It was foretold by angels. <span style="color: red;">Acts 1:10-11</span>, when the Savior ascended from the earth.</span></div>

<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">None of these prophecies were fulfilled at His first coming.</span></div>

<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: blue; font-size: large;"><b>II.<span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space: pre;"> </span>Time of Christ’s Coming</b></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">This is a secret that only the Lord knows. <span style="color: red;">Matthew 24:36</span> “But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of Heaven, but My Father only.”</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">Jesus Christ as man did not know that date but Jesus Christ as God is omniscient and certainly knows the exact moment when it will occur.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">I believe it is a movable date (<span style="color: red;">2Peter 3:12, R.V</span>.) that can be advanced or retarded depending on the speed or slowness of taking the Gospel to every tribe, <span style="color: red;">Matthew 24:14</span>.</span></div>

<div>
<span style="color: blue; font-size: large;"><b>III.<span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space: pre;"> </span>Purpose of Christ’s Coming</b></span></div>

<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">1.<span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space: pre;"> </span>To complete the salvation of saints: He has delivered us from the power and penalty of sin but then He will deliver us from the presence of sin, <span style="color: red;">Hebrew 9:28</span>.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">2.<span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space: pre;"> </span>To be glorified in His saints. <span style="color: red;">2Thesalonians 1:10</span> “When He shall come to be glorified in His saints, and to be admired in all them that believe.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">3.<span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space: pre;"> </span>To bring to light the hidden things of darkness. <span style="color: red;">1Corinthians 4:5</span> “…who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness , and make manifest the counsels of the hearts.”</span></div>

<span style="font-size: large;">4.<span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space: pre;"> </span>To judge.<span style="color: red;"> 2Timothy 4:1</span> “…Christ; who shall judge the quick and the dead at His appearing,”</span></div>

<span style="font-size: large;">5.<span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space: pre;"> </span>To reign. <span style="color: red;">Revelation 11:15</span> “…Christ; and He shall reign forever and ever.”</span></div>

<span style="font-size: large;">6.<span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space: pre;"> </span>To receive us to be with Himsellf. <span style="color: red;">John 14:3</span> “I will come again, and receive you unto Myself; that where am I, there ye may be also.”</span></div>

<span style="font-size: large;">A.<span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space: pre;"> </span>Secretly at the Rapture. <span style="color: red;">1Thesalonians 5:2</span> “For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.”<span style="color: red;"> Matthew 24:44</span> “ Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.” <span style="color: red;">Matthew 24:50</span> “The lord of that servant shall come in a day that he looketh not for Him, and in all hour that he is not aware of.”</span></div>

<span style="font-size: large;">not that he is a mere man, for he is truly and properly God; or that he is a Mediator only according to the human nature: it was proper indeed that he should be man, that he might have something to offer, and that he might be capable of obeying, suffering, and dying, and so of making satisfaction in the nature that had sinned; but then, had he not been God, he could not have drawn nigh to God on the behalf of men, and undertook for them, and much less have performed; nor would his blood, righteousness, and sacrifice, have been available to cleanse from sin, to procure the pardon of it, justify from it, make atonement for it, or make peace with God: the reason why he is particularly mentioned as man, is, with a view to the argument in hand, praying for all men; since he who is the Mediator between God and man, has assumed a nature which is common to them all: and this Mediator is said to be one, not so much in opposition to other mediators, angels or saints departed, though it is a truth, and stands full against them, but with respect to men; there is but one Mediator between God and all sorts of men, through whom both Jews and Gentiles have an access to God, and peace with him; and therefore prayer through this Mediator should be made for all. So the Jews say of the Messiah F21, that he is (yeuma la) , "a Mediator, God", a middle person between God and men. And they call him (atyeumad adwme) , "the Pillar of mediation" F23 or the middle Pillar; that is, the Mediator or Reconciler. And Philo F24 the Jew speaks of the word, as (mesov) , a "middle" person, and standing in the middle between the dead and the living, and between God and men. The Ethiopic version here renders it, "there is one elect of God"; which is one of the characters of the Messiah, ( Isaiah 42:1 ) .</span><br />

<span style="font-size: large;">2. In the closet, <span style="color: red;">Matthew 6:6</span> "But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret."</span><br />

<span style="font-size: large;">1. <span style="color: red;">Matthew 6:9-13</span> (the Lord's Prayer) - the second coming of Christ, the will of the Lord, daily bread, forgiveness, guidance, victory over temptation and sin.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">2. <span style="color: red;">James 5:13-16</span> - pray for the sick.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">3. <span style="color: red;">1Timothy 2:1-4</span> - pray for all men, for kings, for all in authority, for our own personal lives, - and for the salvation of sinners.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">4. <span style="color: red;">Isaiah 38;1-5</span> - pray for a longer life.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">5. <span style="color: red;">Daniel 6:18-23</span> - pray for personal safety and the safety of others.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">6. <span style="color: red;">1Kings 3:5-9</span> - pray for wisdom and understanding.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">7. <span style="color: red;">Matthew 6;25-34</span> - pray for clothing, shelter and food.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">8. <span style="color: red;">Romans 1:10</span> - pray for a prosperous journey.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">9. <span style="color: red;">Colossians 1:28 </span>- pray for every Christian to be made perfect in Christ Jesus.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">10. <span style="color: red;">Matthew 5:38-48</span> - pray for them that despitefully use you and persecute you, pray for your enemies.</span><br />

<span style="font-size: large;">11. <span style="color: red;">1Timothy 5:17</span> - pray for those over you in the church.</span><br />

<span style="color: red; font-size: large;">IV. How to Pray</span><br />
<span style="color: blue; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">1. We should be guided by the Holy Spirit in our praying.<span style="color: red;">Romans 8:26,27</span>"...for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit Himself make intercession for us with groaning which cannot be uttered. And He that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because He maketg intercession for the saints according to the will of God."</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">2. We must pray with faith in the existence of God. <span style="color: red;">Hebrews 11:6</span> "But without faith it is impossible to please Him: for he that cometh to God mus believe that He is (exists)."</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">3. We must believe that God rewards faithful intercession. <span style="color: red;">Hebrews 11:6 </span>"...and He that is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him."</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">4. There must be persistence in prayer.<span style="color: red;"> Luke 18:1-8</span>, the persistent widow got the request. <span style="color: red;">Luke 11:1-13</span>, the persistent knocker received the bread.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">5. We must pray with humility.<span style="color: red;"> 2Chronicles 7:14</span> "If My people, which are called by My name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek My face..."</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">6. We must be prepared to repent of our sins. <span style="color: red;">2Chronicles 7:14 </span>"...and turn from their wicked ways."</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: red; font-size: large;">V. Conditions of Prayer</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">1. We must pray in the will of God. <span style="color: red;">Romans 8:27</span> (qouted in point IV); Matthew 26:39, Jesus prayed, "...not as I will, but as Thou wilt."</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">2. We must forgive others before God will hear and answer our prayers. <span style="color: red;">Mark 11:25</span> "And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any."</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">3. We must pray in faith believing. <span style="color: red;">Mark 11:24</span> "What things soever ye desire when ye pray,believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them." <span style="color: red;">James 1:6,7</span> "But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive anything of the Lord."</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">4. We must keep His commandments. <span style="color: red;">1John 3:22</span> "And whatsoever we ask, we receive of Him, because we keep His commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in His sight."</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">5. We must abide in Christ. <span style="color: red;">John 15:7</span> "If ye abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you."</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">6. We must pray in the Holy Spirit, <span style="color: red;">Jude 20</span> "...praying in the Holy Ghost."</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">7. We must pray in Jesus' name. <span style="color: red;">John 16:24</span> 'Hitherto have ye asked nothing in My name: ask and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full."</span><br />

<span style="color: red; font-size: large;">VI. Hindrances of Prayer</span><br />

<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="color: red;">Isaiah 65:24 </span>"And i shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear."</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="color: red;">2Corinthians 12:7-10</span>, Paul prayed for healing and God said, No." I prayed for my Father's conversation for 17 years - God answered in His own scheduled time. We must wait for God's will and God's time.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">The one prayer of a sinner that God promises to hear is <span style="color: red;">Luke 18:13 </span>"God be merciful to me as a sinner." See also<span style="color: red;"> 2Peter 3:9.</span></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">We will never learn to pray by reading books on the subject. We must pray.</span><br />

<span style="font-size: large;">7. SALVATION & ETERNAL LIFE COMES THROUGH JESUS CHRIST ONLY</span><br />

<span style="font-size: large;"> 2Cr 5:21 KJV - For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Jhn 10:28 KJV - And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any [man] pluck them out of my hand.</span><br />

<span style="font-size: large;">8. YOU MUST MAKE THAT DECISION TODAY, DO NOT DELAY.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Hbr 9:27 KJV - And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Jam 4:14 KJV - Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"> 2Cr 6:2 KJV - (For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)</span><br />

<span style="font-size: large;">9. IF YOU REJECT GOD'S PLAN OF REDEMPTION, YOU ARE CONDEMNED TO ETERNAL TORMENT IN THE LAKE OF FIRE.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">John 3:18 KJV - He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Rev 21:8 KJV - But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.</span><br />

<span style="font-size: large;">What should you do?</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">1. Admit you are a sinner</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">2. Admit you deserve judgment in hell</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">3. Admit Christ died for you and rose again.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">4. Ask Christ to deliver you from sin and hell, trusting Him to actually do it.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Do a Prayer something like this:</span><br />
