1 Now
 it came to pass in the days when the judges ruled, that there was a 
famine in the land. And a certain man of Bethlehemjudah went to sojourn 
in the country of Moab, he, and his wife, and his two sons.</div>
2 And
 the name of the man was Elimelech, and the name of his wife Naomi, and 
the name of his two sons Mahlon and Chilion, Ephrathites of 
Bethlehemjudah. And they came into the country of Moab, and continued 
there. 
 3 And Elimelech Naomi's husband died; and she was left, and her two sons. 
 4 And
 they took them wives of the women of Moab; the name of the one was 
Orpah, and the name of the other Ruth: and they dwelled there about ten 
years. 
 5 And Mahlon and Chilion died also both of them; and the woman was left of her two sons and her husband. 
 6 Then
 she arose with her daughters in law, that she might return from the 
country of Moab: for she had heard in the country of Moab how that the Lord had visited his people in giving them bread. 
 7 Wherefore
 she went forth out of the place where she was, and her two daughters in
 law with her; and they went on the way to return unto the land of 
Judah. 
 8 And Naomi said unto her two daughters in law, Go, return each to her mother's house: the Lord deal kindly with you, as ye have dealt with the dead, and with me. 
 9 The Lord
 grant you that ye may find rest, each of you in the house of her 
husband. Then she kissed them; and they lifted up their voice, and wept. 
 10 And they said unto her, Surely we will return with thee unto thy people. 
 11 And
 Naomi said, Turn again, my daughters: why will ye go with me? are there
 yet any more sons in my womb, that they may be your husbands? 
 12 Turn
 again, my daughters, go your way; for I am too old to have an husband. 
If I should say, I have hope, if I should have an husband also to night,
 and should also bear sons; 
 13 Would
 ye tarry for them till they were grown? would ye stay for them from 
having husbands? nay, my daughters; for it grieveth me much for your 
sakes that the hand of the Lord is gone out against me. 
 14 And they lifted up their voice, and wept again: and Orpah kissed her mother in law; but Ruth clave unto her. 
 15 And she said, Behold, thy sister in law is gone back unto her people, and unto her gods: return thou after thy sister in law. 
 16 And
 Ruth said, Intreat me not to leave thee, or to return from following 
after thee: for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I
 will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God: 
 17 Where thou diest, will I die, and there will I be buried: the Lord do so to me, and more also, if ought but death part thee and me. 
 18 When she saw that she was stedfastly minded to go with her, then she left speaking unto her. 
 19 So
 they two went until they came to Bethlehem. And it came to pass, when 
they were come to Bethlehem, that all the city was moved about them, and
 they said, Is this Naomi? 
 20 And she said unto them, Call me not Naomi, call me Mara: for the Almighty hath dealt very bitterly with me. 
 21 I went out full and the Lord hath brought me home again empty: why then call ye me Naomi, seeing the Lord hath testified against me, and the Almighty hath afflicted me? 
 22 So
 Naomi returned, and Ruth the Moabitess, her daughter in law, with her, 
which returned out of the country of Moab: and they came to Bethlehem in
 the beginning of barley harvest.</blockquote>

The Victory of the Israelites   
1 Chronicles 12:38-40 
38 All
 these men of war, that could keep rank, came with a perfect heart to 
Hebron, to make David king over all Israel: and all the rest also of 
Israel were of one heart to make David king. 
 39 And there they were with David three days, eating and drinking: for their brethren had prepared for them. 
 40 Moreover
 they that were nigh them, even unto Issachar and Zebulun and Naphtali, 
brought bread on asses, and on camels, and on mules, and on oxen, and 
meat, meal, cakes of figs, and bunches of raisins, and wine, and oil, 
and oxen, and sheep abundantly: for there was joy in Israel. 
 
Introduction: The Israelites fought for their victory. Victory is possible if we fight hard on this battle. 1st Point They have unity with one another. V-39     - Israelites were of one heart to make David their king. V-39     - They have fellowship. 
39 And there they were with David three days, eating and drinking: for their brethren had prepared for them. 2nd Point They encourage one another. 1 Chronicles13:1-3     - To join and act on it.

13 And David consulted with the captains of thousands and hundreds, and with every leader.</div>
 2 And David said unto all the congregation of Israel, If it seem good unto you, and that it be of the Lord
 our God, let us send abroad unto our brethren every where, that are 
left in all the land of Israel, and with them also to the priests and 
Levites which are in their cities and suburbs, that they may gather 
themselves unto us: 
 3 And let us bring again the ark of our God to us: for we enquired not at it in the days of Saul. 
 3rd Point They inquired to God first. 1 Chronicles 14:10     - About their plans     - About their action taken. 
10 And David enquired of God, saying, Shall I go up against the Philistines? And wilt thou deliver them into mine hand? And the Lord said unto him, Go up; for I will deliver them into thine hand. 4th Point They inquired to God again. 1 Chronicles 14:14 
14 Therefore
 David enquired again of God; and God said unto him, Go not up after 
them; turn away from them, and come upon them over against the mulberry 
trees. 5th Point They were dependent to God. Conclusion Because of their obedience and dependency to God they experience victory against the Philistines. We can be victorious too, if we will first obey God and be dependent to Him.

to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink

 those members of the body, which we think to be less honourable, upon 
these we bestow more abundant honour; and our uncomely parts have more 
abundant comeliness.

 our comely parts have no need: but God hath tempered the body together,
 having given more abundant honour to that part which lacked. 
 25 That there should be no schism in the body; but that the members should have the same care one for another. 
 26 And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it. 
 27 Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular.

Some of the great questions men have always asked are, "What is the Creator like? What shall I do about my sins? How can I overcome temptations? How can I know God? What is the purpose of life? What lies beyond the grave for those who reject Jesus Christ? Is there really a Heaven? All these questions have been fully answered in God's written Word, the Bible, and in the person of the Lord Jesus Christ who is the Living Word of God. 
 
What is the Creator like? 
Jesus answered this question. He said, "He that hath seen me, hath seen the Father:" (John 14:9). 
"I and my Father are one." (John 10:30). When a man looked at the face of Jesus, he could say, "I have seen God." Jesus was God appearing in human form. Jesus brought God down to men, and He lifted men up to God. 
Would you like to know what God is like? Then read the life of Jesus in the Gospels. Would you like something to know about the love of God? Jesus said, "God so loved the world that He gave His only Begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life". (John 3:16) 
 
What shall I do about my sins? 
Many people live under the burden and guilt of sins. Friend, if your heart cries out in words like this, I have good news for you, "Through this man (Jesus Christ) is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins." (Acts 13:38). "Having made peace through the blood of His cross." (Colossians 1:20). 
Once I too was like the Prodigal Son described in Luke chapter 15. I was faraway from God. But when I turned to God for mercy, He freely forgave all my sins. At the Cross of Christ you can have your sins forgiven. Come to Him now and you'll begin to know the sweetness of His love and mercy. 
 
How can I ovecome temptations? 
 You need power to overcome temptations. You need a Savior who can brig strength and comfort to your heart. Jesus Christ can give you power to live a new life. H is the Living Savior, "able laso to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by Him." (Hebrews 7:25). 
 
How can I know God? 
In our hearts we long for a contact with a person greater than ourselves. God alone can satisfy that longing. Jesus Christ brings you into the family of God. "As many as received Him, to them gave he power to be the sons of God, even to them that believe in His name:" (John 1:12). 
 
What is the purpose of life? 
 After the conversion to Christ the Apostle Paul was sent by Him, to bear His name, and to turn men "from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God," (Acts 26:18). In this same glad service you too can find the greatest joy in fulfilling His will in your life. 
 
What lies beyond the grave? 
Jesus Christ deliver His people from the fear of death. For them it is to be, "absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord". (2 Corinthians 5:18) "To be with Christ which is far better," (Philippian 1:23). 
"Yeah, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me;" (Psalm 23:4). 
For those who reject Jesus Christ, the Bible says, He will return "in flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presense of the Lord and from the glory of His power;" 2Thesalonians 1;8-9). 
 
Is there really a Heaven? 
 Jesus has revealed to His people a great deal about this place which He has gone to prepare for us. Jesus said, "Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself, that where I am, there ye may be also." (John 14:1-3). One of the reasons why I am a Christian is that I'm looking forward for meeting my Savior face to face, and thank Him for all His love to me. I am looking forward to enjoying the beauty of Heaven, which will be my eternal home. 
 
PRAYER 
Heavenly Father, I know that I have sinned and need Your forgiveness. I believe that Your Son Jesus Christ died for me on the cross and I am willing to repent and turn from my sins. I know by faith invite the Lord Jesus Christ to come into my heart and life as my personal Savior and I am willing by Your grace, to follow and obey Him as the Lord of my life. Amen.

The Second Coming of Christ</div>

Introduction</div>

<div>
There are three Greek words o reveal this fact: 1) Parousia - personal presence 2)  Apokalupsis - revelation and 3) Epiphaneia - appearing. These words signify that there will be come a time when Christ will return on a public, personal revelation of Himself to the world.</div>
<div>
Acts 1:10-11 described the ascension as being 1) personal, 2) bodily, 3) visible and 4) with power.</div>
<div>
The Savior's first coming was in humiliation but the Second Advent will be glorious.</div>
<div>
Actually there are three viewpoints respecting His Second Coming:</div>
<div>
1. Post millennial view: It teaches that the Second Coming will follow rather than precede the millennial age.</div>
<div>
2. The A-millennial view: Supporters do not believe in a literal period of a thousand years but believe that when Christ comes everything ends quickly.</div>
<div>
3. The pre-millennial view: The Lord comes and the then the Millennium follows.</div>
<div>

<div>
Another complication is that the Second Coming is in two stages:</div>
<div>
1. The rapture which is secret (1 Thesalonians 4:15-17) when the Lord comes for His saints and we meet Him in the air.</div>
<div>
2. The revelation which is public (Revelation 1:7), when the Lord comes with His saints to setup the Millennium, 1Thesalonians 3:13.</div>
<div>
An unsolved problem of pre-millennialists is whether the Church will go through the tribulation so there are pre-tribulation and mid-tribulation debates.</div>
<div>

<div>
I. Prophecies of Christ’s Second Coming</div>
<div>
 </div>
<div>
His firs coming was prophesied and those prophesies came to pass literally.</div>
<div>
This gives us great confidence that the prophecies of the Second Advent will also be fulfilled literally and not in a figurative or spiritual sense.</div>
<div>
1. It was foretold by the prophets. Daniel 7:13 “I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of Heaven.”</div>
<div>
2. It was foretold by Jesus Himself. Matthew 25:31 “When the Son of man shall come in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then shall He sit upon the throne of His glory.”</div>
<div>
3. It was foretold by Paul. 1Thimothy 6:14 “Keep this commandments without spot unrebukeable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ.”</div>
<div>
4. It was foretold by angels. Acts 1:10-11, when the Savior ascended from the earth.</div>
<div>
 </div>
<div>
None of these prophecies were fulfilled at His first coming.</div>
<div>
 </div>
<div>
II. Time of Christ’s Coming</div>
<div>
 </div>
<div>
This is a secret that only the Lord knows. Matthew 24:36 “But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of Heaven, but My Father only.”</div>
<div>
Jesus Christ as man did not know that date but Jesus Christ as God is omniscient and certainly knows the exact moment when it will occur.</div>
<div>
I believe it is a movable date (2Peter 3:12, R.V.) that can be advanced or retarded depending on the speed or slowness of taking the Gospel to every tribe, Matthew 24:14.</div>

III. Purpose of Christ’s Coming</div>
<div>
 </div>
<div>
1. To complete the salvation of saints: He has delivered us from the power and penalty of sin but then He will deliver us from the presence of sin, Hebrew 9:28.</div>
<div>
2. To be glorified in His saints. 2Thesalonians 1:10 “When He shall come to be glorified in His saints, and to be admired in all them that believe.</div>
<div>
3. To bring to light the hidden things of darkness. 1Corinthians 4:5 “…who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness , and make manifest the counsels of the hearts.”</div>
<div>
4. To judge. 2Timothy 4:1 “…Christ; who shall judge the quick and the dead at His appearing,”</div>
<div>
5. To reign. Revelation 11:15 “…Christ; and He shall reign forever and ever.”</div>
<div>
6. To receive us to be with Himsellf. John 14:3 “I will come again, and receive you unto Myself; that where am I, there ye may be also.”</div>
<div>
7. To destroy death. 1Corinthians 15:25-26 “For He must reign, till He has put all enemies under His feet. The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.”</div>
<div>

IV. How is Christ Coming</div>
<div>
 </div>
<div>
A. Secretly at the Rapture. 1Thesalonians 5:2 “For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.” Matthew 24:44 “ Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.” Matthew 24:50 “The lord of that servant shall come in a day that he looketh not for Him, and in all hour that he is not aware of.”</div>

B. Publicly at the Revelation. Revelation 1:7 “Behold, He cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see Him and they also which pierced Him.” Matthew 24:30; Titus 2:13.</div>

V. Where is Christ coming to?</div>
<div>
 </div>
<div>
A. At the Rapture we will meet Him in the air, 1Thesalonians 4:17.</div>
<div>
B. At the Revelation we will descend with Him to the earth. Probably He will land in the Mount of olives, Zechariah 14:4.</div>
<div>
 </div>
<div>
VI. Manner of His Coming</div>
<div>
 </div>
<div>
1. In the clouds. Matthew 24:30 “…see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven.”</div>
<div>
2. In the Glory of His Father. Matthew 16:27 “For the Son of man shall come in the glory of His Father with His angels.”</div>
<div>
3. In His own glory. Matthew 25:31 “When the Son of man shall come in His glory…”</div>
<div>
4. In flaming fire. 2Thesalonians 1:8 “In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.”</div>
<div>
5. With power and great glory.” Matthew 24:30 “…clouds of heaven with power and great glory.”</div>
<div>
6. As He ascended in bodily form. Acts 1:9-11.</div>
<div>
7. With a shout and the voice of the archangel. 1Thesalonian 4:16 “For the Lord Himself shall descend … with a shout, with he voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God.”</div>
<div>
8. With His saints. 1Thesalonians 3:13 “…coming of…Christ ith all His saints.”</div>
<div>
9. Accompanied by angels. Matthew 16:27.</div>
<div>
10. Suddenly. Mark 13:36 “Lest coming suddenly He find you sleeping.”</div>

VII. Signs of Christ’s Coming</div>
<div>
 </div>
<div>
2Timothy 3:1-7 lists 23 signs of His coming, most of which are very evident today.</div>
<div>
 
<div>
1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.</div>

2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,</div>


 
<div>
3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,</div>

4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;</div>


<div>
5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.</div>

6 For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,</div>

7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.</div>

4. The coming of the antichrist, 2Thesalonians 2:3-8</div>

Conclusion:</div>
<div>

<div>
Be not a scoffer like those in 2Peter 3:3, for His coming is sure and certain.</div>
<div>
Is it right to sell everything and sit on a hilltop waiting for Him?</div>
<div>
Definitely not.</div>
<div>
We ought to plan and work as if He was not coming for another century but live a holy and pure life as if He was to return today. 1Thesalonian 3:12-13</div>

This doctrine must affect our lives. It ought to keep us busy and watching.</div>
