<span style="font-size: large;">One night I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord.</span></div>
<span style="font-size: large;"></span><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky.</span></div>
<span style="font-size: large;">
<div style="text-align: center;">
In each scene I noticed footprints in the sand.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Sometimes there were two sets of footprints,</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
other times there were one set of footprints.</div>
</span><br />
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #555555; font-family: Palatino, serif; line-height: 24px; margin-bottom: 1.2em; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">This bothered me because I noticed</span></div>
<span style="font-size: large;"></span><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">that during the low periods of my life,</span></div>
<span style="font-size: large;">
<div style="text-align: center;">
when I was suffering from</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
anguish, sorrow or defeat,</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I could see only one set of footprints.</div>
</span><br />
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #555555; font-family: Palatino, serif; line-height: 24px; margin-bottom: 1.2em; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">So I said to the Lord,</span></div>
<span style="font-size: large;"></span><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">‘You promised me Lord,</span></div>
<span style="font-size: large;">
<div style="text-align: center;">
that if I followed you,</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
you would walk with me always.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
But I have noticed that during the most trying periods of my life</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
there have only been one set of footprints in the sand.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Why, when I needed you most, you have not been there for me?’</div>
</span><br />
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #555555; font-family: Palatino, serif; line-height: 24px; margin-bottom: 1.2em; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">The Lord replied,</span></div>
<span style="font-size: large;"></span><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">‘The times when you have seen only one set of footprints in the sand,</span></div>
<span style="font-size: large;">
<div style="text-align: center;">
is when I carried you.’</div>
</span><br />

<div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>The Second Coming of Christ</b></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: blue; font-size: large;"><b>Introduction</b></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">There are three Greek words o reveal this fact: 1) Parousia - personal presence 2)  Apokalupsis - revelation and 3) Epiphaneia - appearing. These words signify that there will be come a time when Christ will return on a public, personal revelation of Himself to the world.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="color: red;">Acts 1:10-11</span> described the ascension as being 1) personal, 2) bodily, 3) visible and 4) with power.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">The Savior's first coming was in humiliation but the Second Advent will be glorious.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">Actually there are three viewpoints respecting His Second Coming:</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">1. Post millennial view: It teaches that the Second Coming will follow rather than precede the millennial age.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">2. The A-millennial view: Supporters do not believe in a literal period of a thousand years but believe that when Christ comes everything ends quickly.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">3. The pre-millennial view: The Lord comes and the then the Millennium follows.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">Another complication is that the Second Coming is in two stages:</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">1. The rapture which is secret (<span style="color: red;">1 Thesalonians 4:15-17</span>) when the Lord comes for His saints and we meet Him in the air.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">2. The revelation which is public (<span style="color: red;">Revelation 1:7</span>), when the Lord comes with His saints to setup the Millennium, <span style="color: red;">1Thesalonians 3:13</span>.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">An unsolved problem of pre-millennialists is whether the Church will go through the tribulation so there are pre-tribulation and mid-tribulation debates.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: blue; font-size: large;"><b>I.<span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space: pre;"> </span>Prophecies of Christ’s Second Coming</b></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">His firs coming was prophesied and those prophesies came to pass literally.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">This gives us great confidence that the prophecies of the Second Advent will also be fulfilled literally and not in a figurative or spiritual sense.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">1.<span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space: pre;"> </span>It was foretold by the prophets. <span style="color: red;">Daniel 7:13</span> “I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of Heaven.”</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">2.<span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space: pre;"> </span>It was foretold by Jesus Himself.<span style="color: red;"> Matthew 25:31</span> “When the Son of man shall come in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then shall He sit upon the throne of His glory.”</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">3.<span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space: pre;"> </span>It was foretold by Paul. <span style="color: red;">1Thimothy 6:14</span> “Keep this commandments without spot unrebukeable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ.”</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">4.<span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space: pre;"> </span>It was foretold by angels. <span style="color: red;">Acts 1:10-11</span>, when the Savior ascended from the earth.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">None of these prophecies were fulfilled at His first coming.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: blue; font-size: large;"><b>II.<span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space: pre;"> </span>Time of Christ’s Coming</b></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">This is a secret that only the Lord knows. <span style="color: red;">Matthew 24:36</span> “But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of Heaven, but My Father only.”</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">Jesus Christ as man did not know that date but Jesus Christ as God is omniscient and certainly knows the exact moment when it will occur.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">I believe it is a movable date (<span style="color: red;">2Peter 3:12, R.V</span>.) that can be advanced or retarded depending on the speed or slowness of taking the Gospel to every tribe, <span style="color: red;">Matthew 24:14</span>.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: blue; font-size: large;"><b>III.<span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space: pre;"> </span>Purpose of Christ’s Coming</b></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">1.<span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space: pre;"> </span>To complete the salvation of saints: He has delivered us from the power and penalty of sin but then He will deliver us from the presence of sin, <span style="color: red;">Hebrew 9:28</span>.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">2.<span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space: pre;"> </span>To be glorified in His saints. <span style="color: red;">2Thesalonians 1:10</span> “When He shall come to be glorified in His saints, and to be admired in all them that believe.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">3.<span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space: pre;"> </span>To bring to light the hidden things of darkness. <span style="color: red;">1Corinthians 4:5</span> “…who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness , and make manifest the counsels of the hearts.”</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">4.<span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space: pre;"> </span>To judge.<span style="color: red;"> 2Timothy 4:1</span> “…Christ; who shall judge the quick and the dead at His appearing,”</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">5.<span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space: pre;"> </span>To reign. <span style="color: red;">Revelation 11:15</span> “…Christ; and He shall reign forever and ever.”</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">6.<span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space: pre;"> </span>To receive us to be with Himsellf. <span style="color: red;">John 14:3</span> “I will come again, and receive you unto Myself; that where am I, there ye may be also.”</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">7.<span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space: pre;"> </span>To destroy death. <span style="color: red;">1Corinthians 15:25-26</span> “For He must reign, till He has put all enemies under His feet. The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.”</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>

<span style="color: #741b47; font-size: large;"><i style="background-color: white;">
</i></span>
<br />
<div>
<span style="color: #741b47; font-size: large;"><i style="background-color: white;">2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,</i></span></div>

</i></span>

<span style="color: blue; font-size: large;"><b>Conclusion:</b></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">Be not a scoffer like those in 2Peter 3:3, for His coming is sure and certain.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">Is it right to sell everything and sit on a hilltop waiting for Him?</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">Definitely not.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">We ought to plan and work as if He was not coming for another century but live a holy and pure life as if He was to return today. 1Thesalonian 3:12-13</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">This doctrine must affect our lives. It ought to keep us busy and watching.</span></div>

<span style="color: red;"><span style="font-size: large;">1 Timothy 2:5 </span><span style="background-color: white; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Verdana, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; line-height: 24px;">For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;</span></span><br />
<span style="background-color: white; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Verdana, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; line-height: 24px;"><span style="color: blue;"><br /></span></span>
<span style="background-color: white; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Verdana, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; line-height: 24px;"><span style="color: blue;">Beware: Many have misunderstood and and were misled by cults with this verse. They use this to persuade and mislead people that Jesus is nothing but an ordinary man.</span></span><br />
<span style="background-color: white; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Verdana, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 24px;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #741b47; font-size: large;">For there is one God</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">This does not so much regard the unity of God, with respect to himself, or his divine essence, though that is a truth; but does not carry in it any apparent and forcible reason why all men should be prayed for, for which it is produced; but the unity of God with respect to men, as that there is but one God, who is the Creator of all men, and who, in a providential way, is the Saviour of all men; and in a way of special grace is the one God, the one covenant God of all sorts of men, of Jews and Gentiles; for he has taken of the latter into the covenant of his grace, as well as the former, and has loved them with a special and distinguishing love, has chosen them in Christ to salvation, and has sent his Son to redeem them; and of these he calls by his grace, regenerates, sanctifies, adopts, pardons, and justifies; see ( Romans 3:29 Romans 3:30 ) and therefore all sorts of men, Gentiles as well as Jews, are to be prayed for: another argument follows,</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #741b47; font-size: large;">and one Mediator between God and men;</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">a Mediator is of more than one, and has to do with two parties; and these at variance among themselves, between whom he stands as a middle person; his business is to bring them together, and make peace between them; and such an one is Christ: the two parties are God and his elect, who in their natural state are at a distance from God, and at enmity to him, and who have broken his law, and affronted his justice; Christ stands as a middle person, a daysman between them, and lays his hands upon them both; has to do with things pertaining to the glory of God, and makes reconciliation for the sins of the people; brings them that were afar off nigh to God, and makes peace for them by the blood of his cross, by fulfilling the law, and satisfying justice for them; in consequence of this he appears for them in the court of heaven, intercedes and pleads for them, is their advocate, and sees that all covenant blessings, of which he is the Mediator, are applied unto them, and preserves their persons, which are committed to his care and charge, safe to everlasting happiness; and this Mediator is</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #741b47; font-size: large;">the man Christ Jesus;</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">not that he is a mere man, for he is truly and properly God; or that he is a Mediator only according to the human nature: it was proper indeed that he should be man, that he might have something to offer, and that he might be capable of obeying, suffering, and dying, and so of making satisfaction in the nature that had sinned; but then, had he not been God, he could not have drawn nigh to God on the behalf of men, and undertook for them, and much less have performed; nor would his blood, righteousness, and sacrifice, have been available to cleanse from sin, to procure the pardon of it, justify from it, make atonement for it, or make peace with God: the reason why he is particularly mentioned as man, is, with a view to the argument in hand, praying for all men; since he who is the Mediator between God and man, has assumed a nature which is common to them all: and this Mediator is said to be one, not so much in opposition to other mediators, angels or saints departed, though it is a truth, and stands full against them, but with respect to men; there is but one Mediator between God and all sorts of men, through whom both Jews and Gentiles have an access to God, and peace with him; and therefore prayer through this Mediator should be made for all. So the Jews say of the Messiah F21, that he is (yeuma la) , "a Mediator, God", a middle person between God and men. And they call him (atyeumad adwme) , "the Pillar of mediation" F23 or the middle Pillar; that is, the Mediator or Reconciler. And Philo F24 the Jew speaks of the word, as (mesov) , a "middle" person, and standing in the middle between the dead and the living, and between God and men. The Ethiopic version here renders it, "there is one elect of God"; which is one of the characters of the Messiah, ( Isaiah 42:1 ) .</span><br />

<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: red; font-size: large;">III. Subjects for Prayer</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">1. <span style="color: red;">Matthew 6:9-13</span> (the Lord's Prayer) - the second coming of Christ, the will of the Lord, daily bread, forgiveness, guidance, victory over temptation and sin.</span><br />

<span style="font-size: large;">9. <span style="color: red;">Colossians 1:28 </span>- pray for every Christian to be made perfect in Christ Jesus.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">10. <span style="color: red;">Matthew 5:38-48</span> - pray for them that despitefully use you and persecute you, pray for your enemies.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">11. <span style="color: red;">1Timothy 5:17</span> - pray for those over you in the church.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="color: blue;"><br /></span></span>
<span style="color: red; font-size: large;">IV. How to Pray</span><br />
<span style="color: blue; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">1. We should be guided by the Holy Spirit in our praying.<span style="color: red;">Romans 8:26,27</span>"...for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit Himself make intercession for us with groaning which cannot be uttered. And He that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because He maketg intercession for the saints according to the will of God."</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">2. We must pray with faith in the existence of God. <span style="color: red;">Hebrews 11:6</span> "But without faith it is impossible to please Him: for he that cometh to God mus believe that He is (exists)."</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">3. We must believe that God rewards faithful intercession. <span style="color: red;">Hebrews 11:6 </span>"...and He that is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him."</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">4. There must be persistence in prayer.<span style="color: red;"> Luke 18:1-8</span>, the persistent widow got the request. <span style="color: red;">Luke 11:1-13</span>, the persistent knocker received the bread.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">5. We must pray with humility.<span style="color: red;"> 2Chronicles 7:14</span> "If My people, which are called by My name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek My face..."</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">6. We must be prepared to repent of our sins. <span style="color: red;">2Chronicles 7:14 </span>"...and turn from their wicked ways."</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: red; font-size: large;">V. Conditions of Prayer</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">1. We must pray in the will of God. <span style="color: red;">Romans 8:27</span> (qouted in point IV); Matthew 26:39, Jesus prayed, "...not as I will, but as Thou wilt."</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">2. We must forgive others before God will hear and answer our prayers. <span style="color: red;">Mark 11:25</span> "And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any."</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">3. We must pray in faith believing. <span style="color: red;">Mark 11:24</span> "What things soever ye desire when ye pray,believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them." <span style="color: red;">James 1:6,7</span> "But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive anything of the Lord."</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">4. We must keep His commandments. <span style="color: red;">1John 3:22</span> "And whatsoever we ask, we receive of Him, because we keep His commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in His sight."</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">5. We must abide in Christ. <span style="color: red;">John 15:7</span> "If ye abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you."</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">6. We must pray in the Holy Spirit, <span style="color: red;">Jude 20</span> "...praying in the Holy Ghost."</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">7. We must pray in Jesus' name. <span style="color: red;">John 16:24</span> 'Hitherto have ye asked nothing in My name: ask and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full."</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: red; font-size: large;">VI. Hindrances of Prayer</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">1. Unbelief, <span style="color: red;">James 1:6,7 </span>(qouted above). </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">2. An unforgiving spirit, <span style="color: red;">Mark 11:25</span>, qouted above.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">3. Iniquity, Psalm 66:18 "If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me."</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">4. Asking amiss. (Asking with wrong motives or out of th will of God) <span style="color: red;">James 4:3</span> "Ye ask and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts."</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: red; font-size: large;">VII. Some Prayer Promises</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: red; font-size: large;">Matthew7:7-8; Mark 11:24; Luke 11:9-13; John 15:7; Ephesians 3:12-20; Philippians 4:6-19; Hebrews 4:16; 1John 5:14-15.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: red; font-size: large;">Conclusion</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">What answers does God gives to prayer? God gives one of three answers: 1) Yes 2) No 3) Wait</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="color: red;">Isaiah 65:24 </span>"And i shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear."</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="color: red;">2Corinthians 12:7-10</span>, Paul prayed for healing and God said, No." I prayed for my Father's conversation for 17 years - God answered in His own scheduled time. We must wait for God's will and God's time.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">The one prayer of a sinner that God promises to hear is <span style="color: red;">Luke 18:13 </span>"God be merciful to me as a sinner." See also<span style="color: red;"> 2Peter 3:9.</span></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">We will never learn to pray by reading books on the subject. We must pray.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Be sure to thank Him constantly for answered prayers.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">Review Questions</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">1. Define Prayer</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">2. What four things should a prayer include?</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">3. List 3 places where prayers are ought to be made.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">4. Give two illustrations to prove that it is possible to obey Luke 18:1</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">5. List 15 things fow which we should pray.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">6. What 3 things do we learn about prayer from Romans 8:26-27.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">7. Name one absolute essential before prayer becomes effective.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">8. List 7 conditions of Prayer.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">9. Give 4 hindrances to prayer.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">10. Mention 4 possible answers to a single prayer.</span><br />

<span style="font-size: large;">Christ's Example of Prayer</span></div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: red; font-size: large;">Introduction:</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Despite of being busy, He has always time to pray to His father.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: red; font-size: large;">1st Point:</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">That He was alone.</span><br />
<br />
<ul>
<li><span style="font-size: large;">He went apart in a solitary place.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: large;">Though He had so much work to do with others, yet He chose sometimes to be alone, to set us on example.</span></li>
</ul>
<br />
<span style="color: red; font-size: large;">2nd Point:</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">That He was alone at prayer.</span><br />
<br />
<ul>
<li><span style="font-size: large;">That was His business in this solitude to pray.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: large;">Christ set us an example of a secret prayer.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: large;">When the disciples went to the sea, their master went to pray.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: large;">When Peter was to be sifted as wheat, Christ prayed for Him. <br /><span style="color: red;">-</span> <span style="color: red;">Luke 22:31-32 -</span></span></li>
</ul>
<br />
<span style="color: red; font-size: large;">3rd Point:</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">That He was long alone.</span><br />
<span style="color: red; font-size: large;">- Matt. 14:25 -</span><br />
<br />
<ul>
<li><span style="font-size: large;">He prayed long night in prayer.</span></li>
</ul>
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: red; font-size: large;">Question:</span><br />
<span style="color: blue; font-size: large;">How long you prayed alone with God?</span><br />
<br />
<ul>
<li><span style="font-size: large;">He was there till morning praying 4th watch – 3 am to 6 am</span></li>
</ul>
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: red; font-size: large;">Conclusion:</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Spending time with God in prayer nurtures a vital relationship. It equips us to meet life’s challenges.</span><br />
